WATER, BRIDGES & LIGHTHOUSES SERIES
I would hope that the peaceful state that derives from water is suggested in each of my water photographs.
We are told that life evolve from the sea and that the chemical composition of human blood very closely matches that of sea water. So perhaps it is in our DNA that we humans are drawn back to our source. Although water is one of life's essentials, it is perhaps more than a biological need.
Water seems to be equally essential to the spiritual needs of man. When I need down time, quiet time to contemplate, to meditate, I get my spiritual batteries recharged sitting by the ocean, watching the undulating waves and hearing the pounding surf.
Many of our cities are built adjacent to bodies of water. Water provided modes of transportation for the ancient populations of the Nile, Tigris and Euphrates valleys. Cities developed and grew and the needs for ports and inland waterways expanded. But cities also grew because people just like to be near the water.
Bridges and lighthouses were developed as economic necessities as man sought to coexist with natural bodies of water. Poets and artists followed as they were drawn to the beauty of such coexistence. I would hope that the peaceful state that derives from water is suggested in each of my water photographs.
